Rome / Trastevere Accomodations in this area: 0

Literally meaning "across the river," Trastevere is home to the famous vine swept alleys, and intimate picture perfect piazzas of Rome. Originally inhabited by the Etruscans, The romans established this quarter as an extension of the city center, home to many of the foreigners of Ancient Rome and still boasts a large jewish community to this day. Lined with effervescent osterias, lively pubs, and a thriving student scene, Trastevere is home to two international universities, and the throngs of tourists that flock to see the antiquated roman architecture, persimmon shaded buildings, cobblestone streets and friendly shop owners. A good place to start your night is Piazza Trilussa or get a beer and enjoy the view from Ponte Sisto.
